Frequently Asked Questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Your image is processed entirely in your browser using the exifr library. Nothing is sent to any server.
Which file formats are supported?
JPEG (most EXIF data), PNG (limited metadata), TIFF, WebP, and HEIC/HEIF are all supported.
Does removing EXIF data affect image quality?
No. EXIF data is metadata separate from the image pixels. Removing it does not affect quality, colors, or resolution.
What GPS data can be found in a photo?
Smartphones embed latitude, longitude, altitude, and sometimes camera direction when location services are enabled.
Why doesn't my PNG have any EXIF data?
PNG has limited metadata support. Many apps don't write EXIF to PNG, and screenshots typically have no metadata at all.
