Use Cases
FAQ
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. All text extraction is performed in your browser by PDF.js โ a Mozilla-developed open-source library. Your file never leaves your device.
What types of PDFs can be converted?
This tool works on text-based PDFs (where you can click and select text in a PDF viewer). Scanned PDFs (image-only pages) require OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software and are not supported by this tool.
Does it preserve formatting?
The tool extracts plain text. Rich formatting such as fonts, colors, bold, and multi-column layouts is not preserved in plain text output. Tables may need manual realignment after extraction.
Can I extract text from a specific page?
Yes. Select 'Page range' and enter the start and end page numbers. This is useful for extracting just one chapter from a long PDF.
What is the maximum file size?
There is no hard limit โ it depends on your browser's available memory. Most documents, even hundreds of pages, work fine. Very large PDFs with embedded high-resolution images may be slower.
