Frequently Asked Questions

What voices are available?

Available voices depend on your browser and operating system. Chrome typically provides the most voices, including high-quality neural voices. Most systems include English, and many include additional languages.

Can I download the audio?

The Web Speech API does not support direct audio download in all browsers. To save the audio, record your system audio output while the speech is playing.

Is there a character limit?

There is a 5,000 character limit per session. For longer texts, split them into sections and speak each section separately.

Which browsers are supported?

The Web Speech API works in Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, and most modern browsers. Chrome provides the best voice selection.

Is my text sent to a server?

This tool uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Depending on your browser and selected voice, some voices may use network requests (e.g. Google's neural voices in Chrome). Local voices work entirely offline.
