What Is a Video Reverser?

A video reverser plays video frames in the opposite order — from the last frame to the first — creating a backwards playback effect. This is a popular technique in social media content creation, artistic projects, and video editing.

This tool works entirely in your browser. It extracts frames from your video using the HTML5 Canvas API, then uses the MediaRecorder API to encode them in reverse order — no server upload, no software to install.

Use Cases

Frequently Asked Questions

What video formats does the Video Reverser support?

The tool works with MP4, WebM, and MOV files. MP4 and WebM work best as they are widely supported by the browser's HTML5 video element.

Is there a video length limit?

For best results, use videos under 30 seconds. Longer videos can be processed but will take more time as each frame must be extracted individually.

Is my video file uploaded to a server?

No. Your video file stays on your device. All frame extraction and encoding happens in your browser using the Canvas API and MediaRecorder.

What format is the reversed video downloaded in?

The reversed video is saved as a WebM file. Most video players and editing tools support WebM.

Why does the reversed video have no audio?

The current version outputs video only. You can separately reverse the audio using our Audio Reverser tool and merge the tracks in a video editor.
